OUT OF A BOOK

This looks like a scene straight out of a book. A lone tree. A lone girl. A draping canopy that frames her as she stands beneath it. Of course, in a novel there would be something profound happening while she frolics under the leaves. A thought. An action. Something pivotal that leads to an overarching moral of the story. But this isn't out of a book. This is real life. Where sometimes things just are as they seem. A tree. A girl. Wearing clothes. Taking pictures. To upload to a blog. Nothing philosophical to say. No hidden meaning. Sometimes things are simple. And simplicity is beautiful.

TROPICAL PUNCH

This is winter in Queensland. Okay, that may not be entirely true. But during the few warm days we did have this is what I wore. (Apologies for the offensively white skin. If I had known I was going to show some skin, I would've tanned up.) I should also tell you that the warmer weather wasn't the only strange thing about these photos...

Now, this isn't a 'typical' purchase for me. This playsuit actually has a major 'Izzy-no-no.' Let me explain. I usually avoid 'spaghetti' thin straps, primarily for my dislike of strapless bras (they never make the girls look as good as those with straps) and also my hatred of the 'double-strap' look (in fact I would argue that this isn't even a 'look', but rather an inability to consider appropriate undergarments when dressing). And yet, despite it's clear flaw in the strap department, I love this playsuit. Don't expect me to be wearing any more spaghetti-strap tops though. It has not converted my thinking. But rather, this is the exception that proves the rule.

GENERAL STORE

Not a lot to say today (for a change). Especially in light of the rant I went on in the previous post. Basically, I found this place nestled in the backstreets of suburbia. Thought it was pretty radical. Decided it would be a suitable and 'bloggable' backdrop to show off my favourite (and only) bomber jacket, which is also pretty radical. I know it's very much a 'cult classic,' a piece that everyone and their sister has, but I think it's popularity and adoration is a testament to it's practicality and style- two qualities never lost in a Cameo piece of clothing.

FLORAL STRIDES

Nothing like a little greenery to provoke a fresh perspective. And man, do I feel like I need a new outlook. This may not be the case for everyone, but I find that things can get pretty stagnate in life. You get in a routine- not just one of daily tasks, but of thoughts and ways of thinking. And you carry on ignorantly oblivious to the fact that day in, day out, you're the same. Never changing, never growing. (This may be okay for some, but not for me.)

Then every so often you'll have a thought that breaks your routine. Most likely one at leads to an epiphany (or in rare cases, an existential crisis).  This is the moment when you change, when you're able to move forward. I'm in this moment right now, and realising that my past and current perspectives clash a lot (much the prints on my shirt and pants). I'd like to think that means that I've 'grown'. I do apologise for getting a little philosophical today, I just wanted to tell you that I'm moving forward. Taking strides in my, well, floral strides.

Guest Blogger: Lychee Style

Izzy here. Thought I'd do something different. So naturally, when the darling Careese approached me about doing a guest blog post swap, I jumped at the chance. You can find my outfit post on her blog HERE, and while you're there be sure to check out Careese's own style.

My name is Careese Quon of Lychee Style, and I am so happy to have the opportunity to publish a guest post for the wonderful readers of Izzybea. My style is very transformative--classy one day and avant-garde the next. I find myself oscillating between these two styles depending on my mood and the occasion.

Lately, I've been indulging in my floral obsession to the point where I sought out a lovely rose garden at my university which is where I took these photos. I just couldn't resist the lavish variety of roses the garden had to offer. Coincidentally, this outfit happened to be the perfect look for an afternoon garden stroll. The beige peplum blouse from Mango and geometric printed trousers from Zara proved to be a comfortable pairing for combatting the heat of a sunny day. The multi-colored rose I'm holding is one of the many beautiful flowers of the garden, and adds to the sophistication of the look as a whole. More practically speaking, if you're looking for an outfit to beat the heat at work or on the weekend, look no further! :)

ASTRONAUTS AND SPACESHIPS

Remember the days of handmade clothing? Yeah. Neither do I. I used to think that 'handmade' was basically a synonym for words like 'uncool' and 'dated.' But not anymore. Luckily, through the magic of the internet (it must have been fate), I stumbled across Kawaii Girls. Just two Aussie girls who create clothes that hope to make the world a little brighter.

I'm someone who definitely attaches a level of sentimentality to my clothes. Some more than others. Depending on factors like if I have worn it to a special event, or perhaps it was a gift from someone special. But there's something even more sentimental with these shorts, knowing I have a handmade piece of clothing. And of course, don't forget the bragging rights of owning a truly one-off piece is a large component. (I mean who else wears shorts with astronauts and spaceships?)
