THE SECRET GARDEN

Everyone needs a special place. Their own secret garden. One little spot in the whole world that they can call their own. A place of magic and beauty. And who would've thought in inner suburban Brisbane I would find that place- oh, if only it truly was mine. But I am grateful, that even for just a few moments, I got to feel like it was (while prancing around like a nymph).

I know this isn't my (or anyones) typical street style post. In fact the outfit may be a little ancient Rome inspired. You see I made this wreath for as part of a costume for a string of toga parties I had. Seeing as I'm not much of a 'diy-er' I was so overly pleased with my achievements that I'd thought I'd share it with you. And how better to do that than with a beautiful gold dress on in a location reminiscent of fairy tales. (Though I just want to wear the wreath with anything and everything.)

Happy First Birthday

Guess what day it is today? Okay, you can already guess from the title and the pictures. It's my blogs first birthday! Yep that's right. This little space here on the internet is officially one year old. Wow. So to celebrate I thought I'd eat a cupcake (well that and) write a post to thank you guys. It's still quiet surreal that you- that people from all over the world-read my blog. It's even harder to get my head around the fact that some of you actually want to see more and keep up to date by following me.

Regardless of whether you're a first time reader or a long time follower, I just wanted to thank you for stopping by. Of all the places on the internet you chose to come here. And I can't forget to thank you for the lovely comments some of you make. They truly make my day. So if you want to give me a birthday present, feel free to comment below or hit the follow button if you haven't already. It'll be the best present ever!

Just letting you know I've got some new things coming up for this blog this year. Ooh exciting. And I'm looking for a better way to converse with you guys (I'm thinking maybe Disqus?) Keep me posted about any ideas you might have. They'll be much appreciated.
Have an amazing day!

(Please excuse the less than glamorous pictures. It's been a hectic day.)

ANYTHING GOES

For too long I've been caught in a rut. An outfit rut. Any creativity that once existed when I put together an outfit died. When exactly, I don't know, but I'll estimate about a-very-long-time-ago-ish. And it's only now as that creativity's rotting corpse decays in my wardrobe that I'm hit not only with the putrid stench of boring, but also the realisation of how mundane and repetitive my everyday outfit choices have become.

While I've always shared the fashion ideology 'anything goes'- there are no rules- I've only just begun to live by it. This outfit to many of you might not be a particularly daring or controversial one. And in terms of the ones I see and admire online too, it doesn't even come close. While polka dot and floral might seem like a no brainer, it wasn't something I initially picked. And it actually took a little while for me to come around to it. With such busy patterned, colourful shorts, I'd usually pick a top with a solid colour from the print in a simply cut style. Yawn. That's boring Izzy talking. I'm now stepping out. If only slowly. Very slowly.
