DEMON DAYS

I feel wicked. But not like the musical. Waking up with a serious case of teenage angst, I wanted nothing more than to be a punk rocker with flowers in my hair. But since this isn't a look easily accommodated by my clean cut, high street wardrobe, I had to make do.

Amongst the nauseatingly bright, happy pieces in my closet I found these. Sure, the conjured look might be a bit more neo-sorceress than I was going for, but what's it really matter.  This expresses enough darkness, and enough attitude to the world without being an eye-sore. Today, ladies and gents, I felt sick like Sid and Nancy.

BETWEEN EXTREMES

Incongruity. I reek of it. And so does my sense of style (Ok, 'style' might be a stretch, let's stick with clothes). The desire to be clean cut, conservative and modest (something the grandmother would approve), and the craving to follow hordes of teenagers by wearing baggy, unwashed band t-shirts, denim cut-offs, and Doc Martins; between these extremes is generally where I lie.
The timid nature of a chiffon midi skirt excuses the brash, punk attitude of the spiked collar. It might not be much, but it's my (small) way of rebelling. (I don't tie up my shoe laces either... so badass.)

KEEP IT SIMPLE

There's something I need to tell you before I get started... (uh oh). I don't know much (if anything) about fashion. I don't have a particular 'style'. I don't know the fashion capitals of the world. Nor do I care what is written on a label (unless you wear your clothes inside out, no-one can can see it anyway). I like clothes. That's it.

Effortless. Simple. Easy. Those were my thoughts. Right now it seems like everyone is 'indie', or a 'hipster'; clashing patterns, prints, and colours. Each trying to out do the next with the loudest, most absurd combination. I just needed visual silence. What ever happened to 'less is more'? So I took it back it basics (well... my version of basic). Keep It Simple Stupid (until the next post...).

THIS IS IZZY BEA

This is it. My first step forward. It's time to leave behind the indecision of the crossroads and start doing something productive with my time (and bandwidth). This is it. This is Izzy Bea.

With the painfully rigid, yet somewhat comforting, structure of my high school days behind me, this new (well... 'new-ish') year found me thrown, head first, in the deep end, of the 'real world'. Caught in limbo (not the fun game kind)  I came to the realisation that this 'real world' isn't as exciting or glamourous as the older kids had made it out to be; nor is it as scary or intimidating as it once was seemed when the phrase was uttered by my parents and teachers. I once thought it was sink or swim, but now I realise for past couple of months I have been taking the third option; float.

It's time to swim (even if it's only a doggy paddle). It's time to be a 'do-er'. And so here I am, trying to find and cement my place in the 'real world' (via cyberspace... I know, oxymoron). I want this venture to be more than just a selection of pictures or a collection of words; my focus is style but ultimately, expression. This is not exclusive. Expect pieces on fashion and music, rants and raves, and more generally, whatever I feel like.

But I guess all of this rambling is just trying to say....
"Hi, I'm Izzy Bea and this is my blog."
